Former AIG Pokharel wins Okhaldhunga seat by just five votes

Pokharel defeated his closest rival, Kumar Luitel of the Nepali Congress by a thin margin of five votes.

KATHMANDU, March 8: Former Additional Inspector General (AIG) of Nepal Police Bishwa Raj Pokharel, contesting from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), has narrowly won the House of Representatives seat from Okhaldhunga, the district’s only constituency.



Pokharel defeated his closest rival, Kumar Luitel of the Nepali Congress by a thin margin of five votes.

According to the Election Commission, Pokharel secured 13,953 votes, while Luintel received 13,948 votes.


Although Pokharel trailed in the early rounds of vote counting, he managed to overtake his rival in the final stage, securing victory with a narrow margin.
