Ex- women lawmakers urge top leaders to hold talks

KATHMANDU, Aug 22: Former women lawmakers of the dissolved Constituent Assembly (CA) on Wednesday, urged top leaders of the major political parties to end political uncertainty.



They suggested to start process to hold talks for forging consensus at the earliest on the disputed issues by implementing agreements signed previously to promulgate new constitution as per the people´s aspirations.[break]



At a program organized by former women lawmakers here today, they also called on top leaders to hold talks for consensus on disputed issues of the constitution rather than blame each other.



The women lawmakers said that there was no alternative except for forging consensus among political parties to end the current political uncertainty.



Former lawmaker Suprabha Ghimire suggested for reinstatement of the CA for a short time by forging consensus on the disputed issues.



Similarly, another former lawmaker Dama Sharma said that top leaders should start process for holding talks to forge consensus rather than blame each other.



Likewise, former lawmaker Ushakala Rai said that it is too late to take initiatives by top leaders to resolve the political crisis.Advocate Chandra Kanta Gyawali suggested forging consensus on the disputed issues by reinstating the CA for a short period.
