EPF provides 1.9b dividend to depositors

KATHMANDU, Feb. 7: The Employees´ Provident Fund (EPF) has distributed dividend to its depositors at the rate of 1.5 percent on its initial deposits of fiscal year 2009/2010.[break]



As per the decision of the EPF Board of Directors on January 26, the EPF on February 6 allocated dividend amounting to Rs. 1.9 billion directly in the accounts of 450,000 depositors.



The EPF provided Rs 1.9 billion of its net profit of Rs 1,458,376,701 to the depositors.



This amount is the remainder amount after deducting the interest and other facilities under the social security from the net profit of the last fiscal year.



The EPF has been successful in distributing this amount of money to the depositors for the first time.



The Fund distributed dividend to its depositors at the rate of one percent on its net profit in fiscal year 2008/2009.



Similarly, EPF deposited Rs 50 million in the depositors´ welfare fund and Rs 198,376,701 in the reserve fund.



The EPF deposited this amount from its profit last fiscal year.
