PALPA, Jan 30: Frequent employees´ strikes have affected regular activities at Palpa District Development Committee and various other VDCs in the district.

Local bodies in Palpa have remained closed for the past month owing to the ongoing strike called by the employees. They had withdrawn their strike for three weeks last month before resuming it again.

To make matters worse, most of the officials have been staying in district headquarters citing security reasons, while others are often out on official tours. DDC Planning Officer Tekraj Panthi said almost all VDC secretaries were on official tours.

Service seekers who visit these offices often return home without getting their works done. “I couldn´t get my son´s citizenship due to absence of VDC secretary,” said Bhimkanta Gaire of Basuwakhola VDC, who claimed to have already visited the office three times earlier.
