DHARAN, Feb 22: The educational institutions of east Nepal remained closed on Monday following the three day educational strike called by Federal Student Union.

The union has called a three-day educational strike beginning Monday. [break]

They have demanded that the government declare Manil Tamang as a martyr and pay proper compensation to his family members.

Tamang was shot dead during the protests triggered by the result of FSU election in Dhulabari, Jhapa last year.

Meanwhile, a member of union, Ayit Raj Thopra, said that they would enforce strike for a single day, Monday, in Sunsari district owing to ongoing exams.

“Following the requests from PABSON and N-PABSON we will let the schools resume from Monday though our strike is for three days,” Thopra said.

They have also warned that if the government failed to address their demands by March 6, they would call an indefinite strike from then on.
