Madhesh Rakshya Bahini of Sadbhawana Party and Youth People´s Security Force of the Maoist have stepped up forceful collection of donation in the district for the past few days.
A team led by Madhes Raksha Bahini district in-charge Rameshwor Mandal has been forcefully collecting donation from businessmen, government employees and transport entrepreneurs for the party´s convention scheduled for December 30. The cadres had been extorting up to Rs 1,000 from the vehicles plying on Itahari-Jhumka section of the East-West Highway until before the police chased them away at about 1 p.m. Monday.
The Madhes Rakshya Bahini cadres have also extorted businessmen from Itahari, Jhumka, Pakali, Inaruwa, Sonapur and Duhabi for the general convention.
Likewise, the Maoist´s Youth People´s Security Force have demanded donation by sending letters to businessmen for holding the party´s first national convention.
However, Maoist´s Kochila State Committee Coordinator Pralhad Chandrabanshi refuted the news, saying that they would take action against anyone involved in collecting donation against the party´s policy. “The party can not be run without donation. We collect donation, but not in a forceful manner,” he said.
