A big religious fair takes place at the Kumbheshwar Temple on the occasion of the Janai Purnima festival every year. It is believed that the water from Gosinkunda, a holy place high up in the lap of the Himalayas in Rasuwa district to the north of Kathmandu Valley, sprouts here at Kumbheshwar.
There is a belief that one would get salvation if one visits and pays obeisance at the Kumbheshwar Temple on the occasion of Janai Purnima. A big religious fair also takes place at Gosainkunda on the same occasion today.
