Destination Manang 2010 from April 15

KATHMANDU, Feb 26: Tourism entrepreneurs of Manang district have expressed their dissatisfaction over the government decision to restrict Nar and Phu villages for individual tourists. They said the provision was limiting tourism activities in the region.



At a press meeting organized to inform about Destination Manang 2010 campaign, Binod Gurung, president of Tourism Entrepreneurs´ Association of Manang (TEAM) termed the decision an impractical one. [break]



Tourism entrepreneurs in Manang are celebrating the year 2010 as Destination Manang 2010. The campaign will be inaugurated on April 15, in Chame, and will run till November.



He said the campaign would be organized to present different cultural and ethnic diversity with the blend of beautiful sceneries of Manang district.



TEAM is planning to organize Grand Mitha, Grand Yartung (horse racing), Badhe Festival, Tilicho Lake Festival, Tarkya, Tho (Deer Festival), Nar and Phu fam trip, volleyball competition and live music performance to promote tourism in the district.



Speaking on the occasion, Bikram Neupane, president of Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA), condemned the decision to restrict individual visitors to Nar and Phu villages.
