Constitutional bodies to get new appointments soon

KATHMANDU, March 6: In a bid to fill the vacant positions of the constitutional bodies Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal along with UML chairman Jhala Nath Khanal on Saturday held a meeting with Nepali Congress president Girija Prasad Koirala at the latter´s residence in Maharajgunj.



It has been learnt that the leaders agreed to fill the vacant posts at the earliest through a consensus among them. [break]



The issue will be further more discussed among the UML and NC leaders on Sunday morning.



The government has been unable to appoint chiefs of various constitutional bodies, including Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Public Service Commission, Election Commission and Office of Auditor General, due to disagreement among political parties over power sharing deal of the vacant positions.



Earlier, the Parliamentary State Affairs Committee on had directed the Prime Minister to fill all the vacant positions within a month.
