The subcommittee comprises key political leaders including NC leader Ram Chandra Paudel, UML leaders Jhalanath Khanal and Madhav Kumar Nepal, and Nepal Sadbhavana Party leader Laxman Lal Karna.
According to participants of the meeting, Dahal stated the peace and constitution drafting process is moving ahead satisfactorily and that the task of constitution drafting would soon gain momentum.
“The peace process is moving ahead. The integration of Maoist combatants will begin shortly and constitution drafting will also make progress,” a leader quoted Dahal.
The subcommittee had also briefly discussed State Restructuring Commission reports. Leaders are divided over whether the reports should be sent to the CA state restructuring committee or the CC to resolve the issue.
The subcommittee´s relevance had been questioned after it could not sort out the issue within the stipulated time and many of its decisions were overturned by the full CC meeting. The subcommittee had not held its meeting since December 31.
The CC is scheduled to hold its meeting on Wednesday to sort out some of the differences in the soon-to-be drafted constitution, and endorse the decisions of the subcommittee.
