NMB Bank holds 17th AGM
KATHMANDU: The 17th annual general meeting of NMB Bank held on Friday unanimously elected Atmaram Murarka, Nanda Kishor Rathi, Manish Jain, Rajendra Kafle and T. Puraharan as directors of the bank, says a statement issued by the bank. The bank increased deposit mobilization by 24 percent to Rs 16 billion in the fiscal year 2011/12. The bank also issued loan amounting to Rs 13 billion in the same period, up 10 percent from that of previous fiscal year.
Yeti Airlines launches "Through Fare" scheme
KATHMANDU: Yeti Airlines has launched a scheme called "Through Fare" which offers a special combo rate for passengers of Tara Air traveling to Simikot, Jumla, Rara, Dolpa and Bajura via Nepalgunj. "With this, passengers booking Kathmandu-Nepalgunj or Nepalgunj-Kathmandu ticket will get priority while booking tickets for the above mentioned destinations of Tara Air," a statement issued by the company says, adding, passengers with Yeti Airlines boarding pass in Nepalgunj will get a special discount for accommodation in Siddhartha Hotel through the scheme. Yeti Airlines and Tara Airlines conduct over 50 flights a day to various destinations across Nepal.
Raju Nepal retires from banking sector
KATHMANDU: Raju Nepal, a senior banker, has announced his retirement from the banking sector effective from April 2013. Nepal, who has experience of over 23 years in the banking sector, is currently working in the capacity of assistant general manager, operations, at Citizens Bank International. He has already informed about his decision to the board of directors and the CEO of the bank. Nepal started his banking career from Nepal Grindlays Bank, currently known as Standard Chartered Bank. After serving the bank for almost three years, he joined Himalayan Bank. He then moved to Nepal Bank Limited and worked with the management team appointed under management contract between Nepal Rastra Bank and Bank of Scotland ICC Consulting. Nepal has also published a book titled ´Nepal: Each Place A Holy Place´, which is a collection of photos of 108 religious sites in the country.
Clean Energy announces 10% dividend
KATHMANDU: Clean Energy Development Bank has decided to extend cash dividend equivalent to 10 percent of the earnings made in the last fiscal year to its shareholders. The decision was taken during the bank´s 6th annual general meeting held on Friday. Dhananjaya Acharya, the bank´s chairman, informed the meeting about the current financial position of the bank. The meeting also elected Manish Agrawal and Anup Acharya as directors of the bank to represent general shareholders. The bank has mobilized deposits of Rs 6.43 billion and dispersed loans amounting to Rs 5.52 billion as of mid-December.
Sunrise Bank to extend 5.26% cash dividend
KATHMANDU: Sunrise Bank is extending cash dividend equivalent to 5.26 percent of the paid-up capital to its shareholders. The bank took a formal decision in this regard on Thursday during its fifth annual general meeting (AGM) held in Kathmandu. The AGM also unanimously elected Motilal Dugar, Shree Niwas Sharada, Bachha Raj Tated, Shravan Kumar Goyal, Dr Bhogendra Guragain and Malchand Dugar as the bank´s board members, says a statement issued by the bank. The meeting also elected Motilal Dugar as the bank´s chairman. The bank, which has a paid-up capital of Rs 2.01 billion, has so far collected Rs 21.81 billion in deposits and extended Rs 17.87 billion in loans.
Negosida to transform into federation
KATHMANDU: Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers´ Association (Negosida) is all set to transform into Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers´ Association. An official announcement in this regard will be made on Friday through its Fourth National Convention and 21st annual general meeting, says a Negosida statement. Negosida, an umbrella organization of gold and silver dealers in the country, currently has presence in 40 districts of the country. Negosida hopes the latest transformation will allow it to rope in more gold and silver dealers working in other parts of the country.
Buddha Air starts flying to Surkhet
KATHMANDU: Kathmandu-based Buddha Air has started operating daily flights to Surkhet from Thursday, says a statement issued by the company. The company´s flight departs Kathmandu for Surkhet at 1:45 pm every day. The return flight leaves Surkhet at 3:10 pm every day, says the statement. The company has fixed one-way fare at Rs 9,190 on Kathmandu-Surkhet route. Buddha Air is the only private airline company in the country to operate domestic and international flights.

KATHMANDU: PrimeLife, a life insurance company, has conducted training program for insurance agents in Gularia of Bardiya, Biratnagar, Chandranigahapur of Rautahat, Bhaktapur, Jajarkot, Itahari, Daman, Ilam, Lamjung, Bardibas, Salyan, Gaura of Doti, Arghakaachi, Dadeldhura and Jawalakhel, says a company statement. A total of 50 people participated in the four-day training in each of the location. NB Bank installs 5 ATMs
KATHMANDU: Nepal Bangladesh (NB) Bank has installed ATMs in ATM lounges located in Kantipath, Chhabahil, Lazimpat, Gyaneshwor and Thapathali of Kathmandu, says a statement issued by the bank. With the latest addition, the number of ATMs operated by the bank has reached 25 in the country. The bank is also planning to further expand its branch offices and branchless banking services in various parts of the country, says the statement.
