Pun´s statement came at a time when a majority of the political parties, including the Nepali Congress and the UML have been objecting to the government´s preparations to bring full-fledged budget through ordinance.[break]
Speaking at an interaction with senior officials of the finance ministry, ministry of physical planning, Public Procurement Monitoring Office as well as representatives from the Federation of Contractors´ Associations of Nepal and Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Pun also expressed commitment to control the growing trend among civil contractors to deliver lower quality service, quit the contract halfway and remain out of contact.
"Low quality of constructions and most importantly, the growing tendency among contractors to quit the projects midway has seriously hurt the pace of development. We will take strong steps to control it," said Pun.
He also assured of gradually addressing the demands raised by contractors. On the occasion, contractors had demanded that the government implement the 45-point agreement signed some two-and-a-half years back to resolve problems in the construction sector.
Representatives from Nepal Chamber of Commerce had urged the government to create investment-friendly climate by addressing the power crisis and maintaining law and order situation in the country.
