KATHMANDU, June 2: Birgunj Metropolitan City Mayor Rajeshman Singh has been arrested by police.
The District Police Office (DPO), Parsa, arrested Mayor Singh on Monday, eight days after the Parsa District Court issued an arrest warrant in a forgery-related case.

According to the DPO, Singh was arrested in the Thori area in the northern part of the district, where he had been in hiding, following a special tip-off.
After the court issued the arrest warrant, Singh had reportedly visited the court premises, taken photographs, and posted them on social media before going into hiding.
Based on a complaint filed by local resident Loyakat Ali, the Parsa District Court had issued arrest warrants against Singh and two others on charges of forgery on April 25.
Police said Singh has been taken into custody at the DPO, Parsa, for further investigation.
