He boycotted the program after chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal did not allow him to put forward his dissent during the political orientation program. Bhattarai´s wife Hishila Yami was also barred from speaking at the program.[break]
According to sources, Bhattarai reached the venue in the morning and participated in the top office bearers’ meeting where Dahal stated that Bhattarai would not be allowed to put forward his dissent.
“It is not the decision of any party committee. So why can’t I put forward my dissent?” sources quoted Bhattarai as telling Dahal.
When Dahal did not change his stance, Bhattarai abruptly returned home. Bhattarai has formally registered his dissent in the party. He is against the official party line of “people’s revolt” and launching India as the principal enemy.
Similarly, Yami too left the program after Hitman Shakya snatched the microphone when she tried to speak to the cadres. Other leaders from the Bhattarai camp also boycotted the program on the grounds expressing that internal democracy wasn’t respected by the Chairman.
Around 5,000 cadres from the Maoist Newa and Tamsaling states are participating in the program.
