It has been learnt that an army captain, Mandip Limbu, had reached Morang over a property dispute. He along with his brother Jyoti Limbu attacked Bhakti Sitaula with a khukuri. Sitaula has sustained head and leg injuries.
“I was at home when a group of six men invited us to play Holi. But when I came out they pointed gun at me and attacked with a khukuri,” Sitaula said.
Sitaula has accused an advisor of his own party to have planned the attack against him. He, however, did not disclose the name of the advisor saying that the case is under police investigation.
The police arrested Shyam Magar, who was also involved in the attack, from Sundarpur, but have not taken the others into custody. Area Police Office Inspector Dil Bahadur Subedi said that the search for other culprits is on.
Captain Mandip, on the other hand, said that whether he used any weapon or not will be disclosed after the investigation. His brother, Jyoti, too has not been arrested even when Inspector Subedi said that he attacked Sitaula.
Sitaula returned home on Tuesday evening after receiving treatment at Neuro Hospital Biratnagar.
