Adolescent girls education gaining ground in Saptari

RAJBIRAJ, Jan 30: Maina Khatun (12) of Rajbiraj municipality-2 has set an example that ´Age does not matter for educational pursuit in the presence of will power´.



She got an opportunity to pursue education after the adolescent girls education program implemented in the ward she lives. She goes to Laxmi adolescent girls center every morning after completing her daily routine works at home. [break]



Mauran, who has crossed normal school-going age for not getting opportunity to study due to poverty, is happy now to start formal education in the classes being operated nearby her home.



Being regular at the class, Mauran said she has learned many things from the daily classroom and has boosted up confidence to ´do something remarkable in the future´.



At least 45 such classed have been run in 15 VDCs of Saptari under the adolescent girls education program.



The program has been implemented focusing on the betterment of adolescent girls who have been denied of their educational rights, said Program Coordinator of Nepal Teachers´ Union, Saptari, Bijayananda Jha.
