PANCHTHAR, Sept 14: Seven people were injured when a scuffle broke out between two groups of inmates inside Panchthar District Jail on Monday.
A minor dispute sparked the violent clash between the two groups, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Krishna Prasad Koirala.

The injured jailbirds were taken to the district hospital and five of them have already been discharged. "The clash seems to have occurred after one group obstructed another from playing a game," said DSP Koirala. The police has also suspected that the jailbirds might have created the scene to take advantage of the mess and flee.
The security has been tightened following the clash and those involved have been shifted to separate rooms, Koirala said. "They will be moved to other districts if more clashes occur," he added.
Panchthar Jail, which has the capacity for accomodating 25 inmates, is crammed with 71 prisoners. The overcrowding means less space for facilities such as play ground and other amenities for prisoners, say the jail officials. The Jail was constructed back in 1971.
