600,000 metric tonnes of fertilizers still insufficient

KATHMANDU, July 25: The Agricultural Inputs Centre imported fertilizers worth Rs. 3.34 billion in the fiscal year 2068/69 BS.



It was more by Rs. 660 million as compared to the fiscal year 2067/68 BS. The company had imported the fertilizers worth Rs. 2.68 billion in that fiscal year. [break]



According to data of the company, a total of Rs. 143,000 metric tons of fertilizers were imported last fiscal year. The company had imported a total of Rs. 109.958 metric tons of fertilizers in the previous year.



According to spokesperson of the company, Kusum Lata Rajbhandari, there is still a lack of around 645,000 metric tonnes of fertilizers as there is a demand of 788,000 metric tonnes of fertilizers in one fiscal year across the country.
