KATHMANDU, May 6: Two policemen and a few locals were injured in a scuffle at Sankhu on Sunday. The scuffle ensued when police intervened in the protest staged by locals in front of Sankhu police office against construction of a monastery in a nearby village.

The locals claim that the monastery being constructed at Lapsifedi-6 would obstruct their water source. Police had fired around a dozen tear-gas shells to disperse the mob. A few locals had barged into the construction site and caused some damages on Saturday. The two injured cops have sustained eye injuries and have been hospitalized.
