13 Japanese volunteers arrive Nepal

KATHMANDU, Jan 8: Thirteen Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) volunteers with specializations in various sectors arrived in Nepal today.



The volunteers—six each senior and Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers—will work in various sectors of expertize ranging from fisheries, farm, cooperation and roads in various districts of Nepal for around two years, a press statement by JICA reads. [break]



The JICA volunteer program began in 1965 after Japan inked a bilateral agreement with Nepal.



Around 1,150 Japanese volunteers have rendered their services in Nepal in the areas of education, environment, health, vocational training, engineering, sports, rural development, agriculture, women empowerment and some other sectors, the press statement adds.



Currently there are 64 volunteers working in various districts of Nepal.
