12 injured in bomb blast in Sarlahi

SARLAHI, Sept 13 : At least 12 locals were injured in a bomb blast at the Malangwa-based District Survey Office on Friday.



Of the injured, Narendra Roy of Pidari VDC, Gauri Shankar Mahato of Ramban VDC and Rajkishore Ram of Hempur VDC are in critical condition. Mahato has been brought to Kathmandu for treatment while the other two are receiving treatment at Sarlahi District Hospital. [break]



Akhil Tarai Mukti Morcha has claimed responsibility for the blast.

According to the police, five others, who sustained minor injuries, have also been receiving treatment at the district hospital. The blast has also caused damages to the office building.



“The bomb, which exploded around 11:45 am was a pressure cooker bomb weighing around 5 kgs,” said Chief of the Survey Office, Shiyaram Yadav.

Police personnel have been deployed and security stepped up in the district following the incident, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Santosh Bhattarai. The District Police Office is located just 200 meters to the north of the Survey Office.
