
ANFA awarded Rs 50,000 and a 21-inch Samsung color television set to each member of the Nepali women´s football team. ANFA also handed over letters of felicitation to the players, coaches and manager while ANFA Women´s Committee awarded gift hampers. [break]
Nepal had reached the final of the women´s football during the 11th SAG held in Dhaka from January 29 to February 9 but lost to India in the final.
Addressing the function, ANFA Women´s Committee President Kalpana Piya Shrestha requested clubs to form their women´s teams so ANFA can start women´s league in the future. She argued that if ANFA could organize women´s football tournaments on regular basis, there was chance for Nepali women footballers to win South Asian contest.
ANFA´s advisor Anil Shah said that woman footballers´ achievement in SAG has given confidence to all Nepali women that they can do something. He also insisted on starting women´s league in future.
ANFA President Ganesh Thapa assured the woman footballers that he will initiate starting women´s league in ANFA.

Likewise, Thapa claimed that his committee is trying to create an environment where footballers can live their life being dedicated to the game.
Thapa, on the occasion, announced that ANFA will almost double the prize money of the Martyrs Memorial League in the next season from 4.2 million rupees to 8.2 million rupees.
Likewise, he also informed that ANFA is signing a deal with a housing company on Thursday about providing an apartment to a footballer.
Footballers dominate nominees’ list for Sports Award
