KATHMANDU, May 6: CPN-Maoist General Secretary Ram Bahadur Thapa has said that there was no truth in the reports that his party still holds some weapons. Issuing a press statement here on Monday, General Secretary Thapa said the weapons meant for the security of his party leaders are presently not with the party.

The clarification comes in wake of recent media reports that the party was yet to return back 23 weapons verified by UNMIN and meant for the security of the party leaders.

However, leader Thapa has, in the statement, said the weapons recorded when the party was one is the major responsibility of the then leadership.

The government had earlier urged the party to return the weapons by May 14.
