We approved seven-point agreement: UML leader

KATHMANDU, Feb 9: A senior leader of CPN-UML on Wednesday said that the party had approved the seven-point agreement between chairman Jhalanath Khanal and UCPN (Maoist) chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.



Bamdev Gautam, the senior vice-chairman of UML, said that the party´s standing committee meeting on Monday approved the agreement.[break]



Gautam informed that after a meeting with the Maoist leaders at Baluwatar.



Maoist vice-chairman Narayankaji Shrestha, who also participated in the meeting, said that since the UML has agreed to follow the agreement, the power sharing between two parties for the appointment of ministers ´will be finalized by the evening´.



Prime Minister Jhalanath Khanal and Dahal are holding a meeting after the taskforce meeting to finalize the power-sharing.



If the top leaders reach an agreement, it is likely that PM Khanal will form a small cabinet by the end of the day.



Both parties have claimed Home Ministry which had delayed the appointment of ministers.



Earlier, the two parties have also differences over status of the seven-point agreement. Maoists had claimed that it´s an agreement whereas Khanal, after pressure from his party leaders, had termed it only guidelines.
