KATHMANDU, March 13: The CPN-UML will submit the names of lawmakers elected to the House of Representatives under the proportional representation system on Sunday.
According to party sources, the UML is yet to formally receive the letter in this regard received from the Election Commission as most UML leaders attended the funeral of party chair KP Sharma Oli’s father at Pashupati Aryaghat on Friday.
Do you like your name?
Niraj Acharya, a leader in the party’s election coordination mechanism, said that since the party chair is in mourning, no decision will be taken until Saturday, but the names could be submitted by Sunday.
“Before sending the names, leaders may hold some form of meeting or discussion. We will proceed according to the instructions we receive afterward,” Acharya said.
Under the legal provision, the Election Commission must update the list of candidates elected under the proportional representation system from political parties and submit the final election results report to the President. After the President approves the report, preparations for the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected lawmakers will begin.
Acharya said the UML would complete the process within the timeline set by the Election Commission.
