The clash ensued after supporters of both parties tried to put their own party flags at the Krishnapur-based party office. Lal Singh Thing and Prabesh Timalsina, both of whom are CPN-Maoist supporters, and Ramdhwoj Dallakoti, an activist from the mother party, are among the injured.
The injured have been taken to hospital. Police have detained around 60 persons in connection with the scuffle. The situation is still tense with both the groups rallying and shouting slogans against each other. An additional police force has been called in to contain the situation.
There had been tension growing between the two groups ever since the Mohan Baidya-led CPN-Maoist party broke away from the mother party some time ago following a protracted intra-party feud.
