The band, comprising Dr Dhrubesh Chandra Regmi on sitar, Pundit Homnath Upadhaya on tabla, Bharat Nepali on sarangi and Umesh Pandit on flute, left for a week-long musical tour of Pakistan last Saturday along with mediaperson and advisor to Sukarma, Shekhar Kharel.
Organized by the Nepalese Embassy in Pakistan in the cities of Islamabad and Lahore, the band will perform in the auditorium hall of Pakistan National Council of Arts (PNCA) in Islamabad on March 10, and at Lahore Arts Council in Lahore on March 12.

Bharat Raj Paudyal, Nepal’s Ambassador to Pakistan said, “There was a hiatus of 28 years since any cultural troupe from Nepal made a public appearance in Pakistan. Thus, underscoring the promotion of art and culture as an important aspect of diplomacy, we’ve invited Sukarma for musical performances.”
The audiences in Pakistan will comprise Nepalis living there, diplomats, UN officials and members of international organisations, high ranking government officials, politicians, eminent personalities from the art world, business people and media persons.
