Strike enforcers misbehave with journalists

KATHMANDU, May 15: Life of Chitwan, Dhading and Kavre has been affected as transportation stalled due to the strike called by Kshettri Samaj, on Sunday.



The strike enforcers have misbehaved with 5 journalists in Chitwan.[break]



The journalists who had gone to Narayangadh for news reporting had not been treated well. The victims have issued a joint statement demanding stringent action against the perpetrators.



Armed with sticks and bricks, more than hundred demonstrators have physically assaulted Bil Bahadur Adhikari, K.P. Sharma and Nawaraj Dhakal, the editors of The Loktantra Sandesh Daily, The Akraman Weekly and Chitwan Astha respectively. Similarly, Tikadutta Timilsina, the publisher of The Akraman Weekly and Milan Parajuli, the journalist of Bijaya FM were also assaulted by the miscreants.



The factories, industries, educational institutions, markets and government offices are closed due to the strike. Kshettri Samaj has called the strike in 3 different districts, demanding them to be enlisted in indigenous category, timely promulgation of the constitution and to protest against the division of the state on the basis of race.



Earlier, they had enforced a strike at different places in the western region.



The police in Gajuri are planning to escort the vehicles stranded on the road. The demonstrators have taken to the street with sticks in their hands in Narayangadh, Bharatpur,Ratnanagar along with other places.
