State not liberal towards cooperatives: Keshav Badal

BUTWAL, Jan 15: Chairman of the National Cooperatives Association, Keshav Badal said the state´s views towards cooperatives are discriminating so the cooperatives are not flourishing in the country.



Inaugurating the Second Annual General Meeting of Swornim Saving and Credit Cooperatives in Butwal, today, he said though the cooperatives is the basis to strengthen the national economy, the state has failed to understand the fact. [break]



Badal, who was also the former Minister for Agriculture and Cooperatives, said the state has to think over the tax collected from the cooperatives as the demands from different quarters were raised to free cooperatives from the tax collected by the state.



The cooperatives has been the better means to decrease poverty, raise life standard and gather the dispersed capital to increase the financial activities, he stressed.
