Hoteliers say people starting from middle class to corporate clients have started choosing banquets at star hotels to organize parties.
Five start hotels in the capital have the capacity to serve up to 1,500 persons each at a time. Banquet rates at five start hotels start from Rs 1,400 per person (exclusive of applicable taxes). [break]
According to hoteliers, growing awareness about hygiene, competitive price, foolproof security and adequate parking space are the major factors behind rise in banquets sale. “Although conference groups are our major clients, the number of individual parties especially weddings is very positive,” said Aatma Prasad Khanal, banquet sales coordinator at Hotel Annapurna. He said the hotel has reported 25 percent rise in banquet sales so far this year compared to last year.
Banquet rates at Hotel Annapurna start from Rs 1,400 per person if the total pax is around 1,000. The rate is exclusive of tax. The hotel has the capacity to serve 1,500 people for a cocktail dinner.
Similarly, banquet rates at The Everest Hotel start from Rs 1,500 per person. “Our rates start from Rs 1,500 (exclusive of taxes) per person. But the minimum number of guests should be over 500,” Ashwini Acharya, senior director-sales and marketing at the hotel, said.
According to Acharya, the hotel has reported 20 percent rise in banquet sales so far this year compared to last year.
Banquet rates at Gokarna Forest Resort range from Rs 1,800 to Rs 2,000 per person (exclusive of taxes) depending on the number of guests. “Although our banquet rates are slightly higher, we´ve seen 20 percent rise in sales so far this year,” Kaushal K Singh, director-sales and marketing at the resort, said.
Singh said the resort had already started receiving bookings for parties to be held after four-five months as it is very difficult to get quality venue without advanced booking.
Bharat Joshi, director-sales and marketing at Hotel Yak and Yeti, said banquets sale at the hotel has increased by at least 20 percent. Joshi informed that banquet rates at the hotel starts from Rs 1,300 plus taxes per person for cocktail snacks and dinner. “The rate can go up to Rs 1,700 per person, depending on décor, food variety and presentation of the venue,” added Joshi.
