Shrestha became the Nepal No 1 professional golfer as he earned RS 5, 83,600 from the tour. Shrestha, who has been playing Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) events since last year, won only three events of the Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2012-2013. [break]However, he topped the merit list as he earned Rs 2,26,600 finishing Surya Nepal Masters in third position.
Out of the 10 events of Surya Nepal Golf Tour 2012-2013, Rabi Khadka won four titles while Shrestha won three. Veteran Deepak Thapa Magar and Ram Thapa bagged one title apiece while Indian pro Abhijit Singh Chadha won the Surya Nepal Masters, the event included also in the PGTI Tour.
Khadka is second in the merit list as he earned Rs 4, 04,433. Khadka had won Ghana Shyam Open, President Cup, Eastern Open and the Tour Championship while Shrestha clinched Wesetern Open, Central Open and Match Play events. Ram Thapa won Surya Nepal Challenge while his elder brother Deepak claimed the title of the CMS Open.
Sanjay Lama, who didn´t win a single tournament but always put up average performance, is third in the merit list. Lama earned Rs 2, 97, 333. Deepak Thapa Magar is fourth in the merit list with the income of Rs 2, 51, 683 while Ram Thapa is fifth with the income of Rs 2, 25, 650.
The next season of Surya Nepal Golf Tour will begin with the Surya Nepal Masters, the biggest golf event of the country, scheduled for May 8-11 at Gokarna Golf Club.
