Rajbhandari, who is pursuing his higher education in the US, has returned home on a three-week long vacation.
"I´ve missed Nepali football and my club. Meanwhile, playing Aaha Gold Cup in Pokhara is always a fascinating thing for every footballer," said Rajbhandari, who landed in Kathmandu on Thursday.
"Since I have a college vacation, it got a good opportunity to reconnect to Nepali football and my club," he added.
Host, National win
The hosts Bagmati Modern A, National Campus, Bridgewater Int´l, Texas and Reliance won their respective matches in boys section on Sunday in the First Bagmati Modern Inter-college Basketball Tournament that kicked off at the hosts´ court in Sukhedhara. Bagmati A had a hard fought 36-35 win over St Lawrence riding on 22 points of Tejendra Gurung.
National humiliated New Millennium 60-30. Nima Tashi contributed 13 points for the winning side. Bridgewater saw off AJ Wild 30-24 with 14 points from Bhivab Raymajhi. Texas outclassed Kathmandu Valley 53-34. Nischal Gurung topscored with 29 points for the winning side. Likewise, Reliance surpassed TIA 48-23. Pranam Karki scored 14 points for Reliance.
Prime, NCC win
The hosts Prime started with an impressive win in the Fifth Prime BBA Cup Boys´ Knockout Football Tournament that kick started on Sunday at the Chyasal Ground. Prime hammered DAV 9-4 in the opener. Rupak Aryal netted a hat trick for Prime. In another match, Nepal Commerce Campus (NCC) saw off Peoples Campus 2-0. Thakur Shrestha and Manish Neupane scored one each for NCC.
Kirtipur basketball from Friday
Naya Bazar Club is organizing the Kirtipur Mahotsav Cup Open Women´s and Men´s Basketball Tournament from Friday at Kirtipur basketball court. According to Biku Maharjan, the coordinator of the tournament, the event is organized with the aim of promoting Kirtipur Festival which is going to be held on the occasion of Nepal Tourism Year 2011.
The organizers have expected participation of eight teams in women´s and 16 teams in men´s section. The nine-day long tournament will be played in the league cum knockout format. Kirtipur Festival Committee is the main sponsor of the tournament who has provided Rs 100,000 to conduct the tournament. The expected cost of the tournament is Rs 317,000.
