KATHMANDU, June 20: Some parts of Koshi Province are currently under the influence of the monsoon, while other parts of the country are experiencing the partial impact of local and easterly winds, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).
The Division said the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi Province and other provinces are generally cloudy, while most parts of the Tarai region have remained mainly clear. Light rainfall is occurring in a few hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
This afternoon, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan and hilly regions of the country as well as in the Tarai areas of Koshi Province. The Madhesh Province is likely to witness partly cloudy conditions, while other Tarai areas will remain mainly clear.
Heavy rain and snowfall likely in several regions today
Some parts of the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi Province, a few places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and one or two places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces may receive moderate rainfall and snowfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is also likely in some parts of the Tarai areas of Koshi Province and one or two places in Madhesh Province.
A heat wave is likely in some parts of the Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces, while hot days are expected in some parts of the Tarai areas of Bagmati and Gandaki provinces.
Tonight, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, as well as in the Tarai areas of Koshi Province.
Madhesh Province and other Himalayan and hilly areas are likely to witness partly cloudy conditions, while weather in other Tarai areas will remain mainly clear.
The DHM said some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and one or two places in the Himalayan areas of Lumbini and Karnali provinces may receive moderate rainfall and snowfall with thunderstorms and lightning.
Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is also likely at one or two places in Madhesh Province and some parts of the Tarai areas of Koshi Province.
There is also a possibility of heavy rainfall at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces and the Tarai areas of Koshi Province.
