The different indigenous groups have their own forms of performing arts that have been passed down through generations from the very beginning of their civilization and culture. Similarly the folk musical instruments, folk songs and dance, folk lores and literature also have been set as cultural heritage.

Nepal Music Center has been conducting several studies regarding the current situation of these cultural heritages and performing arts of indigenous groups in our country. These groups include the 59 ethnicities as mentioned by the state.

Some months ago it had also organized an exhibition event of folk songs and dance of Kisan, Lepcha, Rai-Khaling, Chamling, Rajbanshi and Tajpuriya group of eastern region.

This kind of study and exhibition drafts and broadcasts the cultural prosperity of our country. But the main objective here is to protect and promote these folk performing arts and heritages that are slowly disappearing.
