Releasing the book, ´Environment Disaster and Climate Change´, he alleged that Prime Minister Bhattarai has stuck to state power instead of sacrificing for the sake of political consensus and the nation.[break]
The book is a collection of leader Nepal´s speeches on issues of the environment, disaster and climate change effects, delivered in national and international forums during his premiership.
"Prime Minister Bhattarai seems least bothered even when the country is going to the dogs; the only thing in his mind is hanging on to power, so Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai is the main cause for the current political crisis," said UML leader Nepal.
The way for consensus would be wide open once the Prime Minister Dr. Bhattarai quits the current government and paves the way for the same, said former Prime Minister Nepal.
He called on the people to take initiatives for reining in people with bad motive as the nation would be pushed to crisis if the election was not held within mid May.
UML leader Nepal pointed out the need of consensus among the political parties on foreign policy, economic policy, environment, education, good governance, campaign against the caste-based discrimination, the search for new talents, and making the public bodies accountable.
During the programme, former Minister for Environment Ganesh Shah said deforestation and shortage of water were the matters of concern to all people, stressing the need of individual contribution to this sector.
Former Minister for Education, Gangalal Tuladhar, former Vice-chairman duo of the National Planning Commission, Jagadish Chandra Pokhrel and Dinesh Chandra Devkota, among others, said the book could be a good reference in formulating policies to check climate change hazards in the days ahead.
The programme was chaired by Chairman of the Media Foundation Nepal, Ram Krishna Bhandari.
