PM should resign if no progress in peace, statute: Koirala

KATHMANDU, Feb 15: Nepali Congress President Sushil Koirala said Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai should resign within a month if he fails to make any substantive progress in the constitution writing and peace processes.



Speaking at an interaction program organized by Reporters´ Club on Wednesday, Koirala said that the prime minister should not stick to the post if he fails to make any progress in the peace process. [break]



The Maoists are obstructing the integration process by demanding the higher posts in the Nepal army, the veteran leader alleged.



Koirala reiterated that the Maoist combatants were not eligible for the post of second-in-command in the Nepal Army.



It would create a critical situation if the Maoists are given second-in-command in the army as it demoralize the latter, Koirala echoed.
