NSU asked to hold general convention

KATHMANDU, Jan 16: The Nepali Congress (NC) has directed Nepal Student Union, the party´s sister organization, to resolve disputes and create favorable atmosphere to hold general convention of the students´ body at the earliest.



During a meeting with former and incumbent NSU presidents on Sunday, party General Secretary Prakash Man Singh directed NSU President Pradip Paudel to resolve differences within the student body and create an environment conducive to holding the general convention.[break]

 

NSU former NSU Presidents Bal Bahadur KC, Gobinda Bhattarai, Mahendra Sharma, Keshav Singh and Kalyan Gurung and incumbent NSU President Pradip Paudel were present in the meeting.



The NSU has not held its general convention since May, 2007.



According to Bhattarai, the party leaders discussed the issue of resolving differences within the NSU that surfaced after the merger of then NC (Democratic) with NC in 2008. “We discussed how to adjust portfolios to run the NSU effectively,” he said.



NSU President Paudel said General Secretary Shrestha directed the incumbent NSU office bearers to settle differences through discussions and prepare an interim statute to hold the general convention at the earliest.
