BUTWAL, Jan 6: Nepali Congress central leader Bal Krishna Khand has ruled out the possibility of consensus among political parties prior to national convention of the UCPN (Maoist).

Khand said consensus would not be forged for the formation of a national consensus government as Prime Minister Dr Baburam Bhattarai is not likely to call it quits before the party´s general convention. The seventh general convention of the ruling UCPN (Maoist) is starting on February 7.[break]

Inaugurating the 13th annual general assembly and seventh convention of the Dhaulagiri Saving and Credit Cooperatives in Butwal today, Khand said the Prime Minister does not want to exit from the post fearing that his influence would be weaker in the upcoming general convention.

The NC central member claimed that consensus would not be forged even by extending the deadlines by the President as Prime Minister Bhattarai has wished to hold the party´s general convention during his stay in power.
