KATHMANDU, Oct 8: The Nepali Congress (NC) has decided to hold its 13th general convention from March 3-6 in Kathmandu. A Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the party held at Prime Minister's official residence, Baluwatar on Wednesday morning fixed the date to this effect.

Earlier, NC had decided to defer the general convention for six month as per the new provision in the new constitution. The provision allows political parties to defer holding general convention for six more months under 'special circumstances'.The general convention which was scheduled for September 19 to 22 in Kathmandu was postponed earlier considering the involvement of party leaders in the promulgation of the new Constitution.

NC CWC member Pradip Poudel, informed that the CWC has decided to hold the party's Village and Municipality level convention by January 29, Constituency level convention by February 5 and district level convention February 7.

The current leadership of the party and its executive committee was elected in September 2010 through the party's 12th general convention. The party had postponed its 13th general convention twice citing different reasons.
