MPRF-R applies to register at EC

KATHMANDU, May 25: The newly formed Madhesi People´s Rights Forum-Republican (MPRF-R) on Wednesday applied for registration at the Election Commission (EC), two days after getting registered at the parliament secretariat as a new parliamentary party.



MPRF-R Chairman Jaya Prakash Prasad Gupta, accompanied by eleven central leaders, reached the EC office to register the party. The party has a fourteen-member central executive committee. [break]



Salma Khatun Mikrani and Sabita Yadav were absent at the time. Yadav was attending a marriage ceremony at her house while Mikrani is reportedly sick.



"We have submitted all documents required while registering a new party. The EC will inform us about the acceptance of our application within two or three days," MPRF-R Secretary Rajlal Yadav told Republica.



The central ad-hoc committee of MPRF-R compromises Atmaram Sah, Rajkishor Yadav, Rajlal Yadav, Nandan Kumar Dutta, Chandrika Yadav, Om Prakash Yadav, Surita Sah, Sandhya Devi, Bishwanath Prasad Yadav, Surita Yadav and Aqbal Ahmed Shah.



MPRF-R has said it will play strong role in national politics. Gupta, along with 12 lawmakers, defected from Madhesi People´s Right Forum on Monday and formed the party under his own leadership.
