KATHMANDU, Dec 29: At a time when increasing power cuts have taken a huge toll on the advertising industry, an advertising company has found out a clever way to reach out to the masses.

Media Space Solution (MSS), a digital advertising company, has installed 60 TV screens in micro buses plying six different routes in the Kathmandu Valley to run advertisements. [break]Sixty micro buses plying the Sundhara- Lagankhel, Sundhara -Thankot, Sundhara -Kirtipur, Sundhara -Madhyapur Thimi and Sundhara -Balaju bypass route have the display screens.

“We have placed 10 screens in micro buses plying each route keeping in view the increasing power cuts that have made television advertisements useless,” said Srijal Bhattarai, managing director of MSS.

Apart from advertisements, the Micro Media also runs entertainment and other public awareness programs for passengers, said Bhattarai. The display monitors is turned on from 5 am to 9 pm every day.

Nabin Adhikari, 21, a passenger who was travelling to Sundhara from Kirtipur in one of these micro buses, said, “This is a new practice in Nepal but I think it´s a good way of making proper use of technology.”

Moreover, information related to traffic rules and regulations is also displayed on the screen. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division Pawan Giri, displaying traffic related information helps a lot in making people aware about traffic rules and regulations.
