DANG, Jan 27: Maoist students brutally thrashed Raj Kumar Dangi, a local student leader of Nepal Students´ Union (NSU), the student wing of Nepali Congress, in Dang on Wednesday evening.

A group of Maoist students led by Santosh Pokharel, secretary of Free Student Union (FSU) at Mahendra Multiple Campus, attacked Dangi on the campus premises. Dangi has sustained deep injuries in his face, legs and hands.

The Maoist students thrashed Dangi with rods after a minor dispute over using a building of the campus where Dangi had been running a karate training. The FSU had earlier told Dangi to vacate the building.

Pokharel claimed that they retaliated only after Dangi attacked his friends. Issuing a statement, the NSU said the Maoist students and YCL cadres attacked Dangi.
