Speaking to journalists in Dhorahi, Dang on Wednesday, Baidya said, “If a government under Maoist leadership is not formed, neither will the peace process be concluded, nor a new constitution written.”[break]
“Nothing will be achieved by keeping the Maoists out of the government,” he said.
Baidya accused the present government of instigating the Maoists by collaborating with India. “This is a plot to obstruct the constitution-writing process,” he said, adding, “If the constitution is not written within the stipulated time, we will lead another revolt.”
He even said that the Maoist party will bring a no-confidence motion if there is delay in forming a new government. “The alternative is no-confidence motion,” he said.
Referring to the Baburam Bhattarai-led faction´s opposition to a no-confidence option, Baidya said, “Those who claim to be supporters of the parliamentary system are themselves opposing our proposal.”
Baidya also said that the High-Level Political Mechanism should now be led by the Maoists in the absence of Girija Prasad Koirala. “Girijababu was a well-respected leader. He led the political mechanism as he did a lot of good work. But now there is no one in the NC or UML to lead it. Thus the leadership should come to the Maoists,” he said.
Stating that Koirala´s demise has brought about a political vacuum in Nepali politics, Baidya said it has now become the responsibility of the Maoist party to fulfill Koirala´s wish.
He also repeated the Maoist stand of integration only after constitution formulation.
