The river, swollen by torrential monsoon rains in the recent days, has been eroding 10-15 meters every day, say locals of Saptari. [break]They say acres of land where bananas and rice crops have been planted will be damaged if the river destroys the embankment.
However, Chief District Officer of Saptari Hariraj Panta says he was not aware of the erosion by the river.
