Kin sent to custody for teenager's murder

BARA, Jan 23: The Bara District Court on Wednesday sent three accused in the murder of Bindu Kumari Thakur, 16, to judicial custody for further investigation.



Acting on a charge sheet filed by the District Police Office (DPO), Bara, district additional judge Achyuth Prasad Bhandari issued the order to send Bindu´s father Rama Thakur, mother Geeta Devi Thakur and uncle Ram Ekbal Thakur to custody to further investigation into the murder. [break]



However, Geeta Devi is at large following the court´s order. “The court is going to issue an arrest warrant against her,” informed chief administrator of the district court Baburam Dahal.



Govinda Prasad Updhaya, the district attorney in Bara district admitted that they have urged the court to slap life term along with confiscation of properties on the accused.



Earlier, the police had detained the father and the uncle of the victim for investigation. According to preliminary investigation, Bindu, 16, was killed for falling in love with a boy from the same VDC, said the police.



Bindu´s charred body was found in a field some 100 meters away from her house on December 27.
