Rambasi Chaudhary of Fattepur-8 is an activist against Kamlari tradition but she is also serving as a Kamlari due to lack of other sources to win her bread and butter.
She said living as a Kamlari was her compulsion due to poor financial condition.
Like Rambasi, many other women from Tharu community in the district are active in free-Kamaiya movement during daytime after completing chores in the houses of owners.
At present, the women have been demanding salaries at par with their labor. They complained that they were deprived of due salaries based on their labor.
Chair of the Kamaiya Mahila Jagaran Samaj, Krishna Chaudhary said that the freed-Kamaiyas also should get facilities like women of other communities.
