Journalists displaced after life threat

MORANG, Feb 7: Two journalists were displaced from Pathari in Morang district after frequent life threats over the issue of news coverage.



Arjun Jamneli Rai, correspondent of Aujar Daily, and Bibek Bhattarai, correspondent of Janabidroha Daily, were displaced after they received frequent life threat messages from mobile number 9842306151 on Sunday.[break]



The scribes were threatened over the news coverage of sand and pebble extraction from local Sunjora River for land plotting.



A group of youth led by Sajan Dhimal after the direction of local UML leader Kishor Rai seized the Aujar Daily and disrupted the paper distribution on Sunday.



Different organizations have condemned the act saying seizing newspaper and halting the distribution was against the press freedom.



Journalists Rai and Bhattarai are the members of Revolutionary Journalist Association, Morang chapter.



No one has been arrested in connection with the issue though the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Morang chapter, Press Chautari, Press Union and others lodged complaints demanding their arrest at the office of the Chief District Officer Suresh Adhikari, Superintendent of Police Dipak Thapa and CPN (UML).
