KATHMANDU, March 12: The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) will now lead the investigation into the shocking rape and murder of 16-year-old Inisha BK in Surkhet District.
The District Police Office (DPO) Surkhet requested CIB assistance after completing its preliminary investigation, citing the severity of the crime. A CIB team is preparing to reach Birendranagar to collect additional evidence and continue the probe.

According to the postmortem report, Inisha died from excessive bleeding following sexual assault. Electronic devices, including mobile phones linked to the case, have been sent for forensic examination. Police have so far arrested four juveniles under the age of 18 in connection with the crime, and the investigation is ongoing.
The gruesome incident occurred last Saturday in the Janajagaran Community Forest near Shahid Park, Birendranagar-4, Surkhet. Inisha, a permanent resident of Badakholi in Gurbhakot Municipality-6 and currently living in Birendranagar Municipality-1, was found unconscious in the forest on the morning of March 7. She was rushed to Provincial Hospital Kalagaun by police, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Relatives of the victim have filed a complaint with the DPO, Surkhet, alleging gang rape. Early investigations have confirmed that Inisha died after being raped.
The horrific crime has sparked outrage nationwide, with protests erupting in multiple parts of the country, demanding swift justice and action against those responsible for the rape and murder of Inisha BK.
