The team will first inspect the source of drinking water in the district. The team will also create awareness about diarrheal infection and collect stool samples of the infected for laboratory examination.

The District Public Health Office (DPHO) of Doti had reported that cholera was detected in some patients of Baglek VDC. The office has put the district on alert in view of the high risk for the spread cholera. “The district has been put on alert as cholera can spread by air and water,” Tej Bikram Saahi, officer at Epidemiology Disease Management Section at DPHO, said. He said that the office has asked health workers be prepared for any possible epidemic.

Diarrhea outbreak in the district has claimed 14 lives in the past six weeks. However, the DPHO puts that figure at only seven.
