All of a sudden, my bodyguard Ananta Raj Khadka pushed me into the vehicle. Before I figured out what was happening, I heard a loud gunshot and he fell on the ground. I became scared. A bullet whizzed past my head, smashing the windshield. I sensed that something was embedded in my head. It began to bleed. [break]
In a while, people gathered around. My bodyguard had already attained martyrdom. I was not happy at my being well and sad at his death. I was very nervous. They rushed me to Narayani Zonal Hospital. I learnt that pieces of glass were embedded in my head. I was then taken to the National Medical College for a CT-scan. Doctors told me the cuts were mild. I returned to normalcy.
After the incident, I felt doomed all day. Khadka had been my bodyguard for the past six months. He was always smiling and friendly. He was always careful for my safety. I, therefore, felt unworried. With his untimely demise, the country has lost a brave soldier.

News of the attack spread rapidly and my wife called from Kathmandu. Even my son and daughter-in-law phoned me from America. So did my daughter from China. I told them not to worry. They are, perhaps, heaving sighs of relief at my well-being. However, I am yet to overcome the trauma of losing my faithful bodyguard. I am wondering how his family will cope with his death.
